MAGAZINE RESEARCH / HALLUCINATE

Hi,

In this blog, I will be posting about the research I have done into the magazines that inspired me while creating my covers.

DAZED

This is a magazine that I have always liked because it really speaks to people my age and talks about everything that we could be interested in music, culture, fashion, media... I have also been inspired by this magazine for my last term Fashion editorial. So, here are a few pictures that inspired me for my first finished cover.

The main aspect of the DAZED magazine that inspired me was how the headline is presented it is big yet so simple which really attracts people my age so, I also wanted to create something similar to this headline.

Another magazine that I looked at and inspired me is the PAPER magazine which is, again a magazine that speaks to people my age.

You can again see the big headline which is clear and simple but still manages to get the attention by the size of it. Another aspect that I got inspired from and used on my own magazine cover is the way they put the celebrity name on the bottom and added a short text to it. Also, adding the country it is published underneath the headline.

While doing my research on how to set up my magazine text's I also looked at how people posed for magazines with the attention on the make-up and face. So, I looked at a few magazines and found a magazine in which Kourtney Kardashian posed for Vogue which is a very similar pose that I used for my own cover.

I used this as an inspiration and posed with my eyes closed. this way it could really focus on my eye make-up and still being able to see other aspects.

EDITING PROCESS / FINAL / COVER 1 LOOK 1 / HALLUCINATE

Hi,

In this blog, I will be posting the process of me editing my pictures for my magazine cover.

EDITING PROCESS

For editing my pictures I am using the Digital Software Pixlr

This is how the software first looks before uploading any images.

Then, I uploaded the background that I would like to use for my cover by choosing "Upload Image".

Then I uploaded the image I would like to use and cut it by choosing the scissors > brush > remove.

To make the image and background blend I added some transparency to the image.

I added the magazine name by choosing text > add. I then chose the font as wished and added the cover name.

I decided to treat myself as a celebrity and added my name in the font Adolfine.

To make myself seem like an actual interesting celebrity I also added a short text that says "Makes her own rules" by using Text > add.

As of last, I added the country where the magazine is being published which is the UK.

FINAL RESULT

This is my first finished cover. I have used all the elements that inspired me such as the crystal crown, the galaxy as shown in Rihanna's music video, the purple make-up... With this cover, I wanted to create a simple yet so fascinating cover.

PHOTOGRAPHING / LOOK 1 / HALLUCINATE / GODFIDENCE

In this blog, I will be posting about the photographing process and the results I got.

SET-UP

I went to a parking lot where I could take some pictures without being disturbed by people in the background or being annoyed by the strong wind. Then, I set up my tripod in a place where the lighting was good.

I tried using the fabric as background but then it didn't work out the way I wanted and it was also harder to photoshop later on so, instead, I just used the fabric on myself.

PHOTOGRAPHS

These are some images of the photoshoot, at the end of the shoot I had 500+ images on my phone which then I had to select the best ones out of and start editing. Selecting the good images out of 500+ images was a harder process than taking the pictures itself. Even though I won't be using all the pictures I still tried different types of poses, because you never know what you might come up with during photoshopping and they may all come in handy or not but then I at least tried.

IDEAS GENERATION / BRINGING THE IDEAS TO LIFE

In this blog, I will be posting about the ideas generation for my project and the purchases I have done for my project.

IDEAS GENERATION / PROCESS

The idea for my shoot started off by getting inspired by Rihanna's music video in which you can see the galaxy and the futuristic theme that I want to recreate. You can see clearly what I mean by looking at the image.

Now that I had the idea of the vibe and background I had to find some inspiration for the clothes so, I went to London and looked at stores because London plays a huge role in the Fashion industry. This piece in the image is the one that inspired me the most. It has both the modern and futuristic vibe to it which makes it so unique and artistic.

Then I decided to buy a fabric that is close to the fabric I saw in the store and decided to make gloves out of it for my outfit and use the rest in different ways in the photographs. When buying the fabric I was unable to find the purple colour so I bought a blue and pink one so that I could, later on, sew them together and create purple.

In my previous blog, I mentioned how I got inspired by the purple hair, make-up, and crystal crown.

In this image, you can see the final results of the gloves and the crystal crown that I purchased.

This is an image for my 2D/3D task but, you can see the purple wig that I originally purchased for the project and intend to use later on.
