Milanote

 Ideas on Milanote

We have been taught how to use Milanote to create a ''Idea board''/Canvas.

I made my Milanote with the ideas I have mentioned on my previous blog

I summed up the ideas I have and why I have chosen to use these, also included some images to show how I will be presenting these.

Writers research

 Research

Since I will be using Vogue as inspiration for my own magazine, I thought it would be best to do research on it is writers to get to know more about what is going through their mind and on what they base their research. By getting to know them better.

Anna Wintour

Final project research

Research

In this blog, I will be showing and talking about the ideas I have for the final project.

Since my continuation route is going to be Fashion communication and styling, I will be making an editorial/Magazine.

My ideas

Make-up:

source: Vogue

source: Vogue

Make-up has always had a huge impact on the fashion industry. So, I wanted to talk about evolution, how this is being used in fashion shows, and make some photographs about how this can be introduced.

Corset:

source: Rebels market

Corsets have been in the fashion industry for over decades. In history, corsets have been worn underneath the gowns and in many other ways. However, we can see that corsets are once again trending and are being worn underneath dresses, on blazers, and so on. The idea is to show the evolution of the corsets and how the usage of this has changed within decades and show this with some photographs.

Inspiration

Vogue

Vogue is known for the fashion headlines, trends, celebrities, and so on. This is why I will use this magazine as an example and inspiration while setting up my magazine.

Source: People

As you can see on the cover of vogue a celebrity was used with Make-up that captures attention and some clothes from the latest trends. This is what inspired me to make attention capturing cover for my own magazine by using the subject I have chosen in a creative way.

Advert

Advert

In this blog, I will be showing the process and final piece of my advert.

I started with gathering pictures for my advert:

source: Unsplash

I started with choosing my background image.

source: Unsplash

Then I decided to make a shoe brand advert so, I have chosen an image with a shoe to work on.

source: Pixlr

Then I opened the background image on Pixlr just like I mentioned in my previous blog.

source: Pixlr

After locking the background image, I added the shoe image I wanted to work on.

source: Pixlr

By using ''cut'' I cut out the white background of the shoe image.

source: Pixlr

After being done with cutting out the white space of the image, it looked like this then I locked the cut-out image too.

source: free logo design

Once I finished the Photograph, I started working on my logo.

source: Pixlr

As the last step, I added the logo and text onto the finished photograph.

FINAL RESULT

Artist: Nisa Seker

The Logo:

Since the focus was on advertising heels, I wanted to create a logo that feels heavenly whenever you look at it because our main focus is women.

The story behind the image choices:

While doing my research on adverts, I came by many GUCCI adverts with the items being in the most unusual places which is why it took a lot of attention. Because it is different than what people have seen before. So, for the background image, I wanted to choose an image where it is not seen to put a high-heel on to the advertisement. And not only by the background but also by quoting ''The favorite shoe brand of all decades''  it had a great link to the image. By doing so, it is going to take lots of attention. People are going to want to buy a high-heel from a brand that has been a favorite for decades. The Renaissance painting makes it look like the people in the painting are aiming to get the shoe which is making it look more wanted than it is already.  Because of the busy background, a simple picture in the front makes it easier to focus on the main item which is heels.

Technical process of advert

 Technical process

In this blog, I will be showing and writing about the technical process of the making of my advert.

We have been shown how to use pixlr for the technical part of making our advert.

source: Unsplash

This is the photograph I chose to work on while testing out Pixlr.

source: Pixlr

We started off by adjusting the right size given by our tutor.

source: Pixlr

Then it started with a blank paper on the adjusted size.

source: Pixlr

After uploading the picture I cut out a triangle form on the picture.

source: Pixlr

Once the adjustments were done, I added some text by clicking on the T.
Then I chose a font that I liked.

source: Pixlr

We have been shown a way to make our text pop more than the background so, by clicking on 'fill' and choosing the color black I changed the layer and made it transparent. This way the text pops more than the background.

source: Pixlr

The last step we have learned on how to use shapes.
I chose to use two straight lines.

Advertising research

 Research

In this blog, I will be posting my research for my advertising.

This is research that inspired me while creating my own advertisement.

Since I will be studying Fashion communication & styling next year, I have searched for advertisements in my field.

This image has immediately given me the idea to advertise a shoe, because of the unusual place where the shoe is worn, in this case on a dinner table. It captures a lot of attention which inspired me to use an item of everyday clothing or accessory in an unusual space.

Source: Dazed

This immediately captured my attention because the wallpaper is black and the only part that's being captured, is the head. But also the shrimps being on the sunglasses inspired me to use sunglasses for my advertisement in a creative way that will capture lots of attention.

Source: Advanced

When I was doing my research I came by this beautiful old lady. This lady dresses only in green and her house is also decorated with the color green only. This made me think of the way this lady refuses to get old because her spirit will always stay young. So, this inspired me to use a clothing line and make older people wear it in a creative way,  quoting 'The clothing line for everyone'.

Color Psychology

I did my research on how colors can affect the way of people's emotions and the way it's being used in adverts.

Here are a few colors I may be using and the reasons why:

The color black
What it stands for :
  • authority
  • power
  • strength
  • intelligence
WHY?
People always want to feel powerful and intelligent, in most ways people like to reflect this with their shoes, sunglasses, or clothes.

The color red
What it stands for:
  • love
  • romance
  • warmth
  • energy
WHY?
Red is a color that's being loved by many people, the reason for that is because it reminds them of love, romance, and maybe even the warmth they have been missing to get. So, it is a great way to capture attention with a color that reminds people of what they are missing. They will try to fill the emptiness with the item that made them feel that feeling again.

The color blue
What it stands for:
  • calmness
  • uncaring
  • loyalty
  • focused
WHY?
The bustle during workdays or school days may be overwhelming to a lot. Seeing the color blue often calms down people, which is exactly what they need. They need to, not to care, and calm a little bit. That's the reason people often aim to buy blue items. It eve has been proven that blue is the most liked color by human beings.

ADVERTISING

advertising is a marketing communication that employs an openly sponsored, non-personal message to promote or sell a product, service, or idea. Sponsors of advertising are typically businesses wishing to promote their products or services. Advertising is differentiated from public relations in that an advertiser pays for and has control over the message. It differs from personal selling in that the message is non-personal, i.e., not directed to a particular individual. Advertising is communicated through various mass media, including traditional media such as newspapers, magazines, television, radio, outdoor advertising or direct mail; and new media such as search results, blogs, social media, websites, or text messages. The actual presentation of the message in a medium is referred to as an advertisement, or "ad" or advert for short.

Sequential photography

Life of reading,

In this blog, you will be seeing the process and the final result of my sequential photography.

                                                       Inspiration

I searched for the photographer Duan Michals and looked at his work, in the previous blog I put two pictures that inspired me and gave me ideas for my photograph.

Besides that, I went on Pinterest to look for other sequential photographs to get an idea.
Here is a picture that inspired me:

source: Pinterest

This image inspired me to use a self-portrait, which is while keeping distance the best choice to make.

storyboard

I drew my idea on a storyboard template. When I was sure that this was going to be the one I was going to do, I started to set up a place to take pictures.

  Set up

I put up a sheet to create a blank wall and used a camera holder to hold my phone still while taking pictures, I have also used the wall that I painted, in my photograph.

                                                                Editing

To edit my pictures I used VSCO, this is an app that I have been using for a while so I am familiar with it and that's why I chose to use VSCO.

To put the pictures together I've used BeFunky this was an app the tutor recommended.

                                                         Final result

Life of reading
Artist: Nisa Seker

Title

Why I have chosen the title Life of reading is because I chose to use a book to reflect on how it can change people's lives and make them dream of another imaginary world where they can escape to. So my inspiration came from a book that's why I thought that it was the best to use in the title.

The story

People often get exhausted and overwhelmed by work, studying, or basically living. People get bored of repeating the same things again and again. Those who get exhausted or bored often try to find a way to escape from the world. This is mostly by reading books because then people can live in the world they imagine and therefore they can escape ordinary life. The photograph shows how people are happy to escape from ordinary life. Without books, life is just empty and boring.

Duane Michals

 Duane Michals,

Today I will be discussing two sequential photographs of Duane Michals.

The two chosen photographs are the ones that caught my attention and have inspired me with the making of my own sequential photography.

                                                                     The human condition
                                                                   Source: Duane Michals

My thoughts about the photograph:

The reason I have chosen to discuss this photograph is that it can have different meanings and inspirations to different people with different opinions. What I saw in this photograph was how deep our thoughts can go, it can go so far that we get zoned out and imagine things as if we're not present.

“The nature of consciousness is always the central question,” he asserted. In The Human Condition, his panel of six photographs from 1969 begins with a man standing on the 14th Street subway platform; the train arrives and he is bathed in a halo of light; the light becomes a swirl and in the last frame he is swept into a white disc the size of a galaxy passing through the night sky. From the immediate to the universal in six frames.

Death comes to the old lady
Source: Duane Michals

My thoughts about the photograph:

As the title itself is quoting already, the photograph is about the old lady her death. What I see is the angel of death visiting the lady and after that, we can see the lady vanish.

For this sequence, Michals enlisted his grandmother to animate his fascination with mortality, noting, “I am compulsive in my preoccupation with death. In some way, I am preparing myself for my own death.

What have the images given me:

The images have inspired me to work on a sequential image that makes us rethink the way we live our lives and what we are doing with it.

Welcome post

 Welcome to my blog

I am an Art & Design IYZ student. I am writing this blog for my Digital Arts class.

After my IYZ I will be studying Fashion communication & Styling because I have a huge interest in fashion.

I will here be discussing a designer that inspires me in many ways :

Ann Demeulemeester

The reason why I am inspired by this designer is because of the story and the meanings she always puts into her creations, she has lots of creative pieces where I often find a lot of inspirations to use in my work.

Ann Demeulemeester (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌɑn dəˈmøːləˌmeːstər]; born December 29, 1959) is a Belgian fashion designer whose eponymous label, Ann Demeulemeester, is mainly showcased at the annual Paris Fashion Week. She is one of the Antwerp Six in the fashion industry.

In 1985, Demeulemeester released her own line, Ann Demeulemeester, with husband Patrick Robyn. In 1996, she debuted her own menswear line.
Demeulemeester was influenced by gothic, punk, and Japanese cult styles, and her clothing is popular among so-called "goth ninjas".

Ann Demeulemeester
Gothic, Punk

Despite having being approached by major fashion houses (names of which she refuses to divulge), Demeulemeester emphasizes both design and financial independence and chooses to remain with her own line. She opened her own shop in Antwerp in 1999. Her collections are now sold in over 30 countries worldwide.
