Floria’s audacious music-video imagery and trademark cinematic style have made her one of the most acclaimed directors in the genre’s history. Her iconic videos for artists such as Rihanna, Bjork, The White Stripes, and Sigur Ros have swept awards globally, including MTV’s Music Video of the Year Award in 2014 for Justin Timberlake’s Mirrors

This music video was the first video to be entirely shot on IMAX. (IMAX is a company that has its own line of high-resolution cameras, film formats, projectors, and theatres). This song was made for the movie Star Trek which is why they recreated the same futuristic and powerful environment in the video. They have chosen to keep the clothing simple so that the attention was really focusing on the background.

WHO AM I?

 Hi,

This is a class exercise where we describe who we are and think of all the memories that made us who we are today.

WHO AM I?

The bottom describes my childhood and the top describes the current me, in between are my years growing up. Around my silhouette I coloured the aura I was surrounded with during my phases. To begin with the childhood the aura describes Joy and adventure, I have written some of the best memories during my childhood. Then in the middle, 'the growing phase', the aura describes negativity and self-doubt. I have had a huge surgery after a bone-cyst was found in my right leg and I broke it. After multiple surgeries, I had scars on my leg and growing up this made me feel insecure and I felt like I was worth less. Also starting to become a woman brings lots of scariness within, you begin to realise how the world actually is. So, I started to become scared and insecure which has put me through a not so happy phase. As of last on the top phase, the aura describes self-love and positivity. I finally started to realise that the only way to enjoy life begins with yourself. Self-love has become the main point of my life and becoming independent makes me feel stronger which is why I am really happy to be standing on my own feet. Although there are still some issues to fix, I now believe that everything is possible.

This is a technique where you can focus on each other's ideas and give each other feedback and or ideas.

FISHBOWL EXPERIENCE

I really enjoyed this way of talking about our ideas, because we were with only 6 in the group and with the people you know and are also very creative in their own way. So, this made me feel comfortable and it was good to know that people could always give you some ideas and feedback. It was also fun to hear that my colleagues supported my ideas and liked them.

Art Portfolio Class: SMART Project

I will be creating six Magazine Covers with the theme Purple Haze. The magazine will be aimed at young adults, there is no specific gender that the magazine is aimed at. The concept of my magazine covers will be crystal planets, with the colour purple being seen in the amethyst crystals and the purple planet Mercury. I will incorporate the crystal elements into my covers by using crowns, makeup and clothing which will be modelled by myself. This project will take six weeks. And to create the covers I will be using the digital software Pixlr.

Odilon Redon

 Hi,

This blog is for my Art portfolio class.

I will be writing about the class experience and Odilon Redon.

Experience

We have been introduced to a new teaching technique which was listening to a pre-recorded PowerPoint. A lot of my classmates were not happy with this technique but I thought that it was a good way to listen and take notes so that we could go through everything at the end. Which gives me better focus during the recording instead of being asked question and getting distracted.

Odilon Redon

The presentation we looked at during class was about Odilon Redon. We got some information about his life and looked at his artworks. From what I remember of his work is that they are different from what you will usually see and mostly creepy, one of his artwork that I have not been able to forget was the "Crying spider". The reason for this is because the spider was given a human face that was crying and it made it look creepy but interesting at the same time. What I have learnt from his work is that, in order to get noticed you really have to do differently from everyone.

The martians have landed

This blog is made for the Martians who can't understand our language and need an image to understand my ideas.

First thoughts

 Hi,

In this blog, I will be posting my first thoughts.

The theme I am most drawn to is Purple haze and the reason for this is because purple is my favorite color and it has a wide range of opportunities.

I can apply this theme in my continuation route by using purple elements that fit in my route and make photographs then later on make some kind of Fashion commercial, Editorial, etc.

What popped into my head when I first considered the project was using Amethyst crystals or using Mercury (purple planet) as inspiration.

I can't immediately think of an artist or designer for now but once I am doing a deeper research I am sure that I will find an artist to use as inspiration.

Amethyst

This is the crystal that I am planning to use which is called Amethyst.

I came to the idea of using the crystals in a crown as the image above, when I saw the crown I thought of ''The queen of purple" or maybe even the villain in the movie who held a lot of power.

This is the kind of villain that came to my mind and I was thinking of going further from here.

Mercury

Another thing that I thought of was Mercury because of it is color being purple.

First thought conclusion

When looking back at everything I have written and looking at the images I am now thinking of combining the two ideas of the Amethyst and Mercury. I have written that the crystals and the crown made me think of some kind of Queen/villain so, it could be that Mercury can be used as the source of where the power is coming from and I can combing these two elements together.

In this blog, I will be posting a class task which is called the Icebreaker self-portrait.

I got inspired to use a comic book character on the half of my face and this is the best I could do during the time that was given.

This is my second term Welcome post!

This term I am looking forward to once again put my own creativity into the work that I will be doing.

During the break, I have been inspired by buildings! The ones that are futuristic and make you feel like you are in another timezone, also the architecture inside the buildings have really attracted my attention.

The reason why I got so inspired by futuristic buildings is because of how fashion is becoming futuristic as well and once you see the buildings with an eye for fashion you see a lot more than just buildings which are quite interesting to me!
