BLOGGING FEEDBACK

 Hi,

in this blog, I will be posting some feedback I got from my classmates during class about my blog and 2D outcomes.

FEEDBACK

I shared my blog with my classmates and showed my 2D outcomes, they very much liked how I combined the patterns and how each of the designs has background info and story attached to it.

FEEDBACK FOR THEM

I then had the chance to take a look at my classmate's blog and 2D outcomes and I very much liked them as they were all unique and really well executed. And they did the research needed in order to get it done correctly.

ANCESTRAL REVOLUTION - 2D POSTER OUTCOMES 4/4

 Hi,

In this blog, I will be posting my 2D poster outcome and process for my project.

After the previous failed attempts of my 2D posters using the Digital software Pixlr.com, I decided to use the Digital software Canva.com and have succeeded to get four amazing posters done!

ANCESTRAL REVOLUTION - 2D POSTER OUTCOMES 4/4

First, when I opened the Software this is how it looked.

///
Then, I clicked on "Create a design" on the top right corner and chose "Poster" as this is what I will be creating.

///
I then changed the resized template by clicking on the "resize" option and changed it to 700 x 1000mm as this will be the size of my posters.

///
I uploaded an image by clicking on "Photos" and inserting "Turkish pattern" to get an image I could work on and set it up as a background image.

///
Then again, I added another image to add to the design by using the option "Photos". However, this time I did not cut it out and kept it like this.

///

FINAL OUTCOME 4/4

While using this Digital software I have realized that the quality of the images went up higher as these are high pixeled images from Canva which made me like them more.

Sometimes less is more, the creating of this poster was really simple, however, it is with no doubt my favourite one because of it is the colour combination and the meaning behind the sign (Tughra)

A tughra is a stylized royal seal and signature applied by the Ottoman sultans to every royal edict. Different types were used by the early rulers. Suleiman the Magnificent (r. 1520–66) introduced a standard calligraphic design, starting from the right with two to three horizontal lines, drawing a large oval to the left, and ending in the center with intervening letters at the bottom and three vertical undulated axes at the top.

I felt like using the Tughra would be the best way of presenting Turkish orientalism as the patterns have all come from history and started being used during the Ottoman Empire by Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent.

This time instead of cutting out the image, I re-added the background image and adjusted the size inside of the frame.

///
Once the size was adjusted, it looked like this.

FINAL OUTCOME 3/4

While using this Digital software I have realized that the quality of the images went up higher as these are high pixeled images from Canva which made me like them more. In this poster I combined the two elements that I talked about in my previous poster blogs, I combined the tulip and the ceramic designs and I was really excited for this colour combination as it is a giving a very calming yet energetic vibe.

ANCESTRAL REVOLUTION - 2D POSTER OUTCOME 2/4

 Hi,

In this blog, I will be posting my 2D poster outcome and process for my project.

After the previous failed attempts of my 2D posters using the Digital software Pixlr.com, I decided to use the Digital software Canva.com and have succeeded to get four amazing posters done!

///
Then again, I added another image to add to the design by using the option "Photos"

///
Then, I chose the option "Effects" > "Remove Background" > "Erase" and started cutting out the image as wished.

///
After cutting out the image, I copied and pasted it to get two of the same design.

///
Then, I placed both in opposite corners.

///

FINAL OUTCOME 2/4

While using this Digital software I have realized that the quality of the images went up higher as these are high pixeled images from Canva which made me like them more. In this poster, I have specifically used flower patterns, I wanted to make the Tulips as big as possible as there is a very old Turkish legend going on about two lovers, the tragic story goes, once a handsome prince named Farhad fell madly in love with a beautiful a maiden named Shirin. Capricious fate however saw to it that Shrin met her untimely demise during the digging of a new replacement well for her village. When Prince Farhad learned of this he was so overcome with grief that he rode his horse over the edge of a cliff. It’s said that a scarlet tulip sprang up from each droplet of his blood, giving the red tulip the meaning “perfect love.”

ANCESTRAL REVOLUTION - 2D POSTER OUTCOME 1/4

 Hi,

///
I then changed the resized template by clicking on the "resize" option and changed it to 700 x 1000mm as this will be the size of my posters.

///
After creating the template, I proceeded to upload copyright-free images that are available on Canva by clicking on "Photos" and inserting "Turkish pattern" to get the wished images.

///
After looking for a while I found a wished imaged and used it as background.

///
Then again I added another image to add some other designs to it by using the option "Photos" again.

///
I then wanted to cut out the image so I clicked on "Effects".

///
Then I chose the option "Background remover".

///
I started cutting out the image as wished by using the option "Erase".

///
I proceeded to cut the image out as wished.

///
Once the image was cut out as wished, I copy-pasted it twice to add one to each corner.

FINAL OUTCOME 1/4

While using this Digital software I have realized that the quality of the images went up higher as these are high pixeled images from Canva which made me like them more. We can see the Oriental Turkish patterns on the poster which are different yet so similar to each other.

2D OUTCOME FOR PROJECT (FAILS)

 Hi,

In this blog, I will be posting the 2D outcomes I made for my project however, they turned out not so good to be printed out as posters so I had to remake my 2D outcomes.

I still wanted to post these as well to show that there was a real process and failing is a very human thing to do and this just proofs how an individual can only improve themselves and move forward!

After having to use another Digital software and having to redo my 2D posters, I realized I like the new ones more and that failing is not always bad.

3D ARTIST RESEARCH

 Hi,

In this blog, I will be posting about Jill Aiko Yee and her art of draping.

THE ART OF DRAPING - JILL AIKO YEE

The beauty of draping is taking fabric, and wrapping it onto a dress form to see how it molds and reacts to the body's curves each fabric has many different characteristics which cause it to hang, drape, and stretch in a particular way. - Jill Aiko Yee

I like the way she is keeping the draping simple yet so elegant looking which is not always as easy to manage to keep the draping so simple.

ORIGAMI DESIGNER RESEARCH

 Hi,

In this blog, I will be posting about Akira Yoshizawa.

AKIRA YOSHIZAWA

Akira Yoshizawa

Akira Yoshizawa was a Japanese origamist, considered to be the grandmaster of origami. He is widely recognized for his work in raising origami from a craft to a living art form. He was born on 14 March 1911, in Kaminokawa, Japan, to the family of a dairy farmer. When he was a child, he took pleasure in teaching himself origami.

His work has left me speechless by how perfect he recreated living creatures with paper!

3D TASK - MINI PROTOTYPE

 Hi,

In this blog, I will be posting my mini 3D fashion Prototype in which I used the draping technique.

When I read about this task I thought that I could make use of a good studio or place with mannequins so, I asked my old school to make use of their equipment and they were kind enough to let me!

I am familiar with the draping technique and prototyping as this is something we used to do a lot at my previous fashion school so, it was a really fun thing to do again.

CREATING A PROMOTIONAL VIDEO FOR MY PROJECT USING TIKTOK

 Hi,

In this blog, I will be posting a promotional Tiktok I made for my project.

TIKTOK

This TikTok is meant to be as a "Trailer" for my short fashion film. In which you can see the Turkish patterns and then shortcuts of me in a modern style make-up and dress. The light gives it a mysterious vibe to make it more interesting for people to get excited about what's coming.

(I could not upload the Tiktok on here, so I took screenshots. The pictures were on the beat to a song, the Tiktok ends with me blowing out the candlelight. )
