ANCESTRAL REVOLUTION - 2D POSTER OUTCOMES 4/4

 Hi,

In this blog, I will be posting my 2D poster outcome and process for my project.

After the previous failed attempts of my 2D posters using the Digital software Pixlr.com, I decided to use the Digital software Canva.com and have succeeded to get four amazing posters done!

ANCESTRAL REVOLUTION - 2D POSTER OUTCOMES 4/4

First, when I opened the Software this is how it looked.

///
Then, I clicked on "Create a design" on the top right corner and chose "Poster" as this is what I will be creating.

///
I then changed the resized template by clicking on the "resize" option and changed it to 700 x 1000mm as this will be the size of my posters.

///
I uploaded an image by clicking on "Photos" and inserting "Turkish pattern" to get an image I could work on and set it up as a background image.

///
Then again, I added another image to add to the design by using the option "Photos". However, this time I did not cut it out and kept it like this.

FINAL OUTCOME 4/4

While using this Digital software I have realized that the quality of the images went up higher as these are high pixeled images from Canva which made me like them more.

Sometimes less is more, the creating of this poster was really simple, however, it is with no doubt my favourite one because of it is the colour combination and the meaning behind the sign (Tughra)

A tughra is a stylized royal seal and signature applied by the Ottoman sultans to every royal edict. Different types were used by the early rulers. Suleiman the Magnificent (r. 1520–66) introduced a standard calligraphic design, starting from the right with two to three horizontal lines, drawing a large oval to the left, and ending in the center with intervening letters at the bottom and three vertical undulated axes at the top.

I felt like using the Tughra would be the best way of presenting Turkish orientalism as the patterns have all come from history and started being used during the Ottoman Empire by Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent.

  1. How are you going to display your final pieces on your website? will the sit side by side? or do you think they need more space?
